A contact sheet from iPhone photos.

Pick the photos on your phone or drop them on your computer, and get a PDF sheet of thumbnails with the date each was taken. HEIC files work in Safari and on most Macs and recent Windows PCs.

  • Photos never leave your computer
  • PDF with real text, sized for print
  • HEIC, TIFF scans and RAW previews too

On the iPhone itself

Open this page in Safari and press Choose photos. The photo picker lets you select as many as you like from your library. When the iPhone hands them to a web page it usually converts them to JPEG on the way, so they open everywhere. Choose the layout, then Download PDF; Safari saves it to Files, and you can print it with AirPrint or send it on.

On a computer: the HEIC question

iPhones save photos as HEIC (High Efficiency Image Format) unless you've changed the setting. HEIC pictures are compressed with HEVC, the video codec, and not every browser has an HEVC decoder:

  • Safari on a Mac reads HEIC itself. Everything works.
  • Chrome and Edge use the computer's own HEVC decoder through the WebCodecs interface. On Macs, and on Windows PCs whose graphics hardware decodes HEVC (most from the last several years), HEIC works. Where there's no decoder, this page says so and shows those frames as blank, while every other photo still works.
  • Firefox can't decode HEIC at the moment, so use Safari, Chrome or Edge for those files.

We don't ship our own HEVC decoder. The open-source ones are licensed in ways that don't fit a small free tool, and HEVC is covered by patent pools; using the one your device already has avoids both.

If your browser can't read HEIC

  • On the iPhone, Settings › Camera › Formats › Most Compatible makes future photos JPEG.
  • Choosing photos from Safari on the iPhone (above) usually converts them for you.
  • On a Mac, Photos can export JPEGs with File › Export. On Windows, the Photos app can save a copy as JPEG.

Dates, captions and the order

iPhone photos carry the date and time they were taken, the camera (for example "iPhone 13 Pro"), the lens and the exposure. Tick Date taken under Captions to print the date under each photo, and set the order to Date taken to lay them out in the order they were shot, which is usually what you want for a trip or an event. Filenames like IMG_4821.HEIC are sorted in natural order, so IMG_99 comes before IMG_100.

Portrait and landscape photos together

Phones mix tall and wide photos. The default frame shape follows the majority of your photos and shows each one whole, so nothing is cropped. If you prefer every frame filled, choose Fill the frame: photos are cropped from the centre to the frame's shape. Photos that the phone stored sideways with a "rotate" flag are turned upright first.

One-time unlock

For the whole shoot

Sheets of up to 36 photos, every layout option and PDF, PNG and JPEG downloads are free and stay free. The unlock is for big sets and regular use.

  • Unlimited photos per sheet: a whole wedding, a school, a year of scans.
  • No credit line at the foot of the page.
  • Saved layouts in this browser, one click to reuse.
  • A section per folder: drop a folder of folders or a ZIP, and each sub-folder starts a new page with its own heading.
