Contact sheets, straight from the folder.

Drop a shoot, a roll of scans or a phone's worth of photos and get a print-ready PDF: every frame numbered, with its filename, date or camera settings underneath. Free, and the photos never leave your computer.

  • Photos never leave your computer
  • PDF with real text, sized for print
  • HEIC, TIFF scans and RAW previews too

How it works

Three frames, one sheet

  1. 1 ▸1A

    Drop the photos

Files, a whole folder or a ZIP, from a camera card, a phone or a scanner. Hundreds are fine.

  2. 2 ▸2A

    Set the sheet

Paper, columns, captions from each photo's EXIF, light or film style. The first page updates as you go.

  3. 3 ▸3A

    Download the PDF

Sharp thumbnails at 300 ppi and searchable captions, ready to print, email or file with the negatives.

What it reads

From phone, camera card or scanner

Every photo is turned upright the way the camera recorded it, decoded at the size the sheet needs, and released, so a few hundred 24-megapixel photos don't fill your computer's memory.

Your photos stay in the darkroom

Most online contact-sheet makers upload your photos to make the sheet. This one is a page that runs in your browser: it reads the photos from your disk, draws the sheet and writes the PDF on your own computer. There's no server that receives them.

That matters for client shoots, for school and club photos of children, and for anything you'd rather keep to yourself. The page's security policy only lets it talk to this site. Load the page, switch off your Wi-Fi, and it still works.

Privacy in full

One-time unlock

For the whole shoot

Sheets of up to 36 photos, every layout option and PDF, PNG and JPEG downloads are free and stay free. The unlock is for big sets and regular use.

  • Unlimited photos per sheet: a whole wedding, a school, a year of scans.
  • No credit line at the foot of the page.
  • Saved layouts in this browser, one click to reuse.
  • A section per folder: drop a folder of folders or a ZIP, and each sub-folder starts a new page with its own heading.
  • CSV of every frame: number, filename, folder, date taken, camera, lens and exposure.

Questions

Before you print

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Your browser reads the photos from your own disk and makes the PDF on your own computer. There is no server that receives them, and the page keeps working if you disconnect from the internet after it has loaded.

Which files work?

JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF (the first frame), BMP, AVIF and TIFF (8 or 16 bits, uncompressed, LZW, Deflate or PackBits) in every modern browser. HEIC in Safari and in Chrome or Edge on computers with an HEVC decoder. Camera RAW files (CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG, RAF, ORF, RW2 and others) through the JPEG preview inside them. ZIP files and whole folders can be dropped too.

How many photos can I use for free?

Up to 36 photos per sheet, with every layout option and PDF, PNG and JPEG downloads. Free sheets carry a small "Made with contactsheets.app" line at the foot of each page. The one-time unlock removes both.

Is the PDF print quality?

Yes. Each thumbnail is embedded at 300 pixels per inch of its printed size by default (150 or 200 to make smaller files), and captions are real text, so they print sharply and can be searched. Pick A4, US Letter, A3 or Legal to match your paper.

Why are some of my photos sideways or blank?

Photos are turned upright using the orientation the camera recorded. A blank frame means that photo could not be read in this browser, most often a HEIC photo in a browser without an HEVC decoder; the photo list says why.

Can I put my own text under each photo?

Yes. Tick "Your own text" under Captions and type anything, using {n} for the frame number, {name} for the file name without its extension, {folder} for the folder and {date} for the date taken.

How many photos can it handle?

With the unlock, hundreds. Photos are decoded one at a time at the size the sheet needs and then released, so memory use stays low. A sheet of 200 large photos takes a minute or so on a typical laptop.

What does the unlock include?

Unlimited photos per sheet, no credit line, saved layouts, a new section for each sub-folder when you drop a folder of folders or a ZIP, and a CSV of every photo's filename, date and camera settings. It's a one-time payment, with no account and no subscription.
